Make no mistake about it, the DAP always knew about PAS’ hudud agenda, something which PAS had always reiterated since its Party’s Muktamar in 1982.
It was for this reason that Pas President, Hadi Awang demanded an undertaking from the DAP in the form of a signed agreement with LGE on 29 April prior to PRU13 when there was a real possibility that the then PR could win the elections.
This was presumably in exchange for Hadi’s silence on the hudud agenda until after the elections are over so that the DAP can continue to lie to their mainly Chinese/ non Muslims constituents that PAS had indeed dropped their pursuit of hudud laws.
So why did the DAP labelled Hadi as a liar when the Kelantan DUN passed their hudud law? I believe this is a matter of interpretations. Without being privy to their discussions prior to the signing of the letter, I can only speculate that Hadi interpreted the moratorium on hudud to end as soon as PRU13 was over while the DAP wanted PAS to pretend that it will not pursue hudud until the opposition has won the elections and form the government as they needed that to continue lying to their mainly Chinese voters.
Considering the DAP’s track record and propensity to spin and lie at will, I would tend to lean on Hadi’s interpretation as being the more credible of the two.
Given that the DAP have shown themselves as a party devoid of political and human principles, why the sudden change in tone after April 2015 since the DAP still needed PAS if they are serious about capturing Putrajaya?
The answer lies in the guilty verdict the Federal Court handed out on Anwar’s sodomy case and his subsequent jailing.
(1) The DAP now see themselves as the Big Brother within the opposition replacing the Anwarless PKR
(2) Having witnessed how financially lucrative it can be running Malaysia’s 2nd richest state, they now have their eyes firmly set on the Selangor state government.
In order to achieve both these goals, the DAP realised that not only do they need to hang on to their Chinese support base but they also need to appeal to the (for the lack of a better term) liberal Muslims who are even more frightened of hudud than the non Muslims, the very same people who formed the core of PKR’s support base.
The DAP now not only have to portray themselves as the champions of Chinese interests, they also have to be seen to champion the rights of anti hudud Malay/ Muslim community with Mat Sabu’s Alamaks as an added insurance policy just.
Mat Sabu and the Alamaks is also attractive as the DAP needed a Malay with nationwide name recognition who can act as their puppet Mentri Besar once Azmin Ali and the PKR has been driven out of office in PRU14 or preferably earlier.
Having caused a split within PAS and comfortably placed Alamaks in their pockets through pecuniary and probably sexual means, the next thing the DAPigs needs to do is to cause a split in PKR itself.
This will be achieved via:
(1) pressurizing PKR to choose between PAS and themselves, knowing fully well that Azmin Ali would never agree to that
(2) selective expose, and if necessary lies. to discredit Azmin Ali ala Kajang Move, starting with revelations about DEIG
(3) pressurizing Azizah to go ahead with formation of PH and engineering a formal split within PKR
The next thing they need to do is to get enough numbers to force Azmin Ali to step down and install someone of their choice whom they can control be it Azizah or any other ADUN from PKR or Alamak who are prepared to do their bidding and let them pull the strings in exchange for some loose change and perhaps Ah Mois.
Does this mean the DAP have given up their national ambitions? I don’t think so.
Having learnt the importance of state finances to pursue their political agenda, I believe they will use the same mechanism to control whatever opposition to them that is left within the opposition.
I would not even be surprised that some form or rapprochement or overtures will be made to PAS when PRU14 draws nearer.
We have seen how that morally bankrupt Lim Kit Siang can simply decide that Teoh Beng Hock committed suicide after years of telling people that he was murdered, so anything is possible with this bunch of DAP political prostitutes.
A lot depends too on how the Mahathir cacings swing come PRU14 or whether they will be any new Malay based political party in the horizons which will cause further spit within UMNO and the Malay community
Therefore I would urge the BN not to be too confident in assuming that PAS will remain a neutral or friendly party come PRU14.
At the end of the day both PAS and the DAPigs have shown themselves to be parties of little political and moral principles who are ever ready to discard their long term political ideologies for short term political gains. They are just different sides of the same dirty coin
