KUALA TERENGGANU: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak need not bow to the pressure asking him to step down, but should instead focus on resolving several issues linked to his administration.
PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said previous prime ministers namely Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had also faced certain issues and were consequently asked to step down but it was not the best solution.
“If he (Najib) resigns, the succeeding prime minister would be linked to various other problems, so this issue will always be repeated and will never end.
“Such culture, bringing down several leaders due to the problems arising is a shameful political culture,” he told reporters when met outside the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly building, yesterday.
He said this when asked to comment on the call by Tun Dr Mahathir that Najib steps down as the prime minister. In fact, the Member of Parliament for Marang emphasised that Najib should be given the space and opportunity to lead the country until the expiry of his term of administration.
“We see how he resolves the problem, if there is a mistake, it must be corrected, we must take responsibility, change the policy and approach to overcome the problem,” he said.
